(Virtual) Democracy Talks: Child Removal in the U.S.

The novel Our Missing Hearts by Celeste Ng grapples with the systemic removal of children from their families by the state. Learn about two current realities of child removal in the United States: the separation of migrant families at U.S. borders and theracial biases and corruption in U.S. foster care and adoption systems.


Our panelists include Roxanna Asgarian, journalist and author of We Were Once A Family: A Story of Love, Death, and Child Removal in America; Jessica Chicco, Director of the New Americans Initiative at MIRA (Massachusetts Immigrant & Refugee Advocacy Coalition); and Cheryl Aguilar, Founding Director of Hope Center for Wellness and doctoral student at Smith College School of Social Work
