"Mark Twain in India": book launch and discussion
"Mark Twain in India": Watertown resident William H. Bonney launches his new book about Mark Twain's 1896 trip to India, with a slide show of Bonney's photographs that illustrate the book, and a discussion of Twain's extraordinary tour and memoir. "Mark Twain in India" is comprised of the text of the India section of "Following the Equator," Twain's travelogue about the one place that was, in his words, "the most extraordinary country that the Sun visits on his round." It is illustrated with photographs of modern India, each paired with a quotation pulled from the text, that show how, even with the staggering changes brought by the passage of time, so much in India remains eternal. The book, published by Keystroke Studios, includes a Foreword and blurb by Richard Zacks, author of [Mark Twain] "Chasing the Last Laugh" (Doubleday, 2016).
