Mad About the Movies Film Discussion: Chinatown (via Zoom)

Join Kevin Carson, a Watertown resident with an MFA in Filmmaking and Film Studies, for a discussion of Chinatown, starring Jack Nicholson and Faye Dunaway.

In Roman Polanski's 1974 masterpiece, a private detective hired to expose an adulterer finds himself caught up in a web of deceit, corruption, and murder. Chinatown was nominated for 11 Academy Awards, and won Golden Globe Awards for Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actor, and Best Screenplay. In 1977, Roman Polanski would flee the country following multiple criminal indictments, leaving Chinatown as his last great American film.

Chinatown is available for Watertown residents to stream for free on Kanopy and Hoopla, as well as borrow on DVD from the library. Watch the movie at home, then join Kevin for a guided conversation about the film. We can't hold Movie Mondays right now, but we can all still enjoy films together!
