Introduction to Web Applications with Javascript

NOTE: By registering for this event, you are committing to come to six (6) sessions of this class beginning September 13th. There is no meeting on Monday, October 11th.

Have you ever considered what it would be like to design and code your own web applications? Here’s a great way to get a taste of what coding is to see if it’s the right fit for you! In this 6-week, introductory class, you’ll receive an overview of web browsers and technologies, learn the basics of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, and build interactive web interfaces with jQuery. Our instructor has over 12 years’ experience as a software developer working with Ruby, Python, JavaScript and C# for customers in a variety of industries.

Prerequisites: Attendees will ideally bring their own computer, running either Linux, Windows or macOS with a recent Firefox or Chrome browser pre-installed. If necessary, there is an alternate path using a library laptop. Please let the Reference staff know if you will require one. Bonus: prior experience with HTML and CSS!

Free and recommended for ages 16+. Registration is required. You may not bring guests who have not registered. If you have taken this computer class before, we ask that you please wait to register until the day of the class so that new students have a chance to register.

Email address required to register online. If you do not have an email address, visit or call the WFPL Reference Desk to register (617-972-6436).
