FAQ

CAN I REQUEST SIZES AND COLORS?

We can’t guarantee sizes, but we have a variety from children’s 2T through adult 5 XL. If we run out of your size, you can take home a T for a friend or family member!

IF I DON'T GET A FREE T-SHIRT, CAN I BUY ONE?

Yes. Beginning April 12 these T-shirts will be available for purchase at watertownlib.org/merch. T-shirts will not be available for purchase in the Library.

WHY DO THE SHIRTS SAY "YOU BELONG?"

We’re giving out buttons, stickers, and shirts that say “You Belong” to serve as conversation starters in the community. We hope that you’ll invite your friends and neighbors to utilize and enjoy our space, resources, and events.

HOW DID YOU PICK THE LANGUAGES ON THE BACK OF THE SHIRT?

We made a list of the most common languages spoken at home among Watertown Public School ESL students, Project Literacy students, and Greater Boston residents based on U.S. Census data. We then took the top 15 languages from that list, adding ASL and Braille, and asked native speakers to help us translate the phrase “You Belong.” Every translation is a little bit different!

WILL THE LIBRARY HOST MORE FREE T-SHIRT DAYS?

We’d like to! These shirts were purchased with a grant from the American Library Association. We hope to give away free Ts again in the future. Want to support WFPL events and programs? You can make a donation to the Library Building Committee at watertownlib.org/donate
