Program Description: 
Newton Special Education Parents are hosting a presentation on April 11, 2024 from 6 pm to 8 pm with Dr. Karin Hodges on the topic of understanding children’s mental health. This talk is geared toward parents of students in preschool through 5th grade. Dr. Hodges will explain the mechanisms that grow mental illness versus emotional well-being, and describe the essential resources that children require today for psychological health and healing. Dr. Hodges is a Licensed Psychologist and Health Service Provider who treats 3- to 17-year-olds for a range of mental health conditions. She is also an MIT Lecturer and the CEO and Founder of Raising Moxie, LLC. She is a passionate advocate for disseminating empirically-grounded concepts, creating nurturing environments, and fostering childhood growth. She has expertise in training parents, educators, and mental health providers to better support children.
